Dear Fellow Republican:
The state and national elections to be held on November 2, 2010 promise
to bring change to the partisan gridlock in Hartford and Washington. With
good reason, it is expected that Hartford’s democratic “super
majority” in the Senate and State Assembly will fall; and, in
Washington, the GOP is expected to make sizeable gains in the House
and Senate.
Currently, your local Republican Town Committee is meeting with candidates
seeking nominations for many positions: United States Congress
and Senate, State Senate, State Assembly, Probate Judge, Secretary
of the State and Governor. On March 25 at the town library at
7:30 p.m., a caucus will be held to select republican delegates to
attend the approaching conventions to be held throughout Connecticut
to nominate candidates for these important positions.
This year’s state convention, where candidates for Governor
and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of the State,
Treasurer, Comptroller, and United States Congress and Senator will
be chosen, will convene in Hartford (at the new convention center)
on Friday, May 21st and adjourn on Saturday, May 22rd.
The convention to select a candidate for Probate Judge will be held
within the new nine-town district (Killingworth, Clinton, Westbrook,
Old Saybrook, Lyme, Essex, Deep River, Chester, Haddam) on the evening
of May 6th.
The convention to select a candidate for the 35th District State Assembly
seat (Killingworth, Clinton, Westbrook) will be held on the evening
of May 11th. A Killingworth resident shall be on the ballot.
The convention to select a candidate for State Senate in the 12th
District (Killingworth, Madison, Guilford, Branford, North Branford,
Durham) will be held on the evening of May 13th, at the
Guilford Community Center.
Any Republican elector is qualified for nomination to be selected
as a delegate to any of the above conventions. If you would like
to be considered, and desire more information, please contact the Chairman,
David L. Denvir:
Days: (203) 318-1200
Eves: (860) 663-2132
Even if you have no interest in attending a convention as a delegate,
the conventions are open for interested visitors. Please consider
attending one or all. You can help give our candidates a rousing
send off, mingle with interested republicans from throughout our district
and the state; and, if it’s your first convention, you’re
certain to enjoy the chance to witness how our candidates are selected,
and learn how you can help us achieve victory this fall.
Thank you for your support.
