For the second year in a row, the Republican led Boards of Selectmen and Finance have put forward municipal budgets that expend less than the previous year. As it should, this will translate to a zero increase in your property taxes for municipal expenditures. Fiscal responsibility is the cornerstone of every Republican platform. At the same time that your Republican leaders have prevented any tax increase, they have advanced funding for design and construction of the Wettish recreation fields, completed the repair of the Burr Hill Road Bridge, under budget and ahead of schedule, and advanced the long-awaited repair of the Reservoir Road Bridge to the construction phase. November 2009 presents another opportunity to join us in the fight for responsible government spending. As the municipal elections approach, the Republican Town Committee is working to recruit and promote responsible members of our community to serve upon our many boards and commissions, and to stand for election. We have obtained commitments from candidates to fill every position on the ballot, and are currently interviewing residents for the many positions where there are more candidates than seats. If you are interested in elective office, wish to work with the committee, or would simply like to attend a meeting and make your voice heard, please contact the RTC chair, David Denvir, at (860) 663-2132; or by email at denv827@aol.com 2009 KRTC Slate
